Because lifestyle is important to this family, they have always opted to live in an estate. So it was natural, when Waterfall showcased its offering “Lifestyle, Location and Facilities”, that they wanted in.
“The development is extraordinary, and unaffected by old developments and existing infrastructure. We wanted to belong to a ‘green’ city, with a contemporary urban feel and surrounded by nature,” says the home owner.
The brief to the architect was simple: sleek, clean lines, contrasting textures and tones, and lots of indulgence, with free-flowing living spaces. Water features, state-of-the-art lighting and modern-day green living were a must.
The kitchen, with sleek, polished lines, opens on to the dining area, which is surrounded by large glass windows. The breakfast nook is perfect for family get-togethers.
The dark furniture in the lounge adds contrasts and warmth to the room, while the fireplaces boost the feeling of luxurious comfort.
The master suite has been designed as a haven of tranquillity, with subtle colours and a contemporary atmosphere projecting a five-star feel, and the bathrooms featuring behind-the-wall technology, large glassed showers and decorative mirrors.
However, the family favourite is the rooftop garden and spa bath. With a floating roof, large overhangs and natural light, it is the ideal spot for cocktails or relaxing after a day at work. The view is idyllic, allowing the home owners to imagine they are outside the city, in their own private space.
The patio, its dark walls contrasted with modern appliances, such as a gas braai, is enclosed, for entertaining throughout the year, but leads out onto an immaculate garden and swimming pool.
“We always said we would build at least one home in our lives that would echo who we are and take us to our happy place. We wanted to feel like we were retreating into a quiet, peaceful environment,” says the home owner.
