The Braai Shack is a new chain of restaurants, on-the-go stores and braais-on-legs opening in SA in March 2010. The flagship store will be situated in Rosebank’s Design Quarter, and will open on 4 March.

Not only can you grab your boerie and pap there, but you can also stock up on braai gear and fresh meat if you’re like me and believe whole-heartedly that no-one and nothing could beat Mr Holmes’s hand-braaied steaks!

But wait, there’s more!

Forget about missing all the action at your own party, and let the catering sect take care of everything for you while you charm your guests with witty anecdotes and champagne. (Who said that the girls can’t have their own braai party? Even if they aren’t quite aux fais with the techniques of The Braai.)

Now I believe that packaging is everything – from food presentation, to gifts, to architecture. The Braai Shack is designed by architect Frans Bergh on the principle of the vibey Tshisanyama typical of South African townships. So you now have the perfect spot to take international clients to, to wow them with “local is lekker”.
