Black is a colour that is loved by aficionados of both the fashion and decor worlds. It is smart, sophisticated, dramatic, masculine, moody and urbane. And, looking at this fabulous modern abode, it is clear that these home owners are big fans of the colour as well.

From the entrance door to the massive ceiling-high window frames and the winding staircase, it’s a colour that features prominently, often against a white backdrop. The kitchen in particular is immersed in the colour – here the striking acrylic, high-gloss black finishes of the appliances and cabinetry complement the black and white Caesarstone counters.

And adjacent to the kitchen is an all-black dining room set with a glass table top. The white walls and tiled floor provide the perfect contrast for this monochromatic scheme, which is a big trend at the moment.

Although the living room flows seamlessly from the kitchen and dining room, it breaks from the predominant colour scheme with a large cream sofa to match the curtains. A small rug, which matches the kitchen countertops ties in with the rest of the colour scheme, while bright coloured cushions introduce a pop of colour and add a touch of personality. Not afraid to push the boundaries a bit further, the owners also opted for a black-infused palette for the more private upper level of the home. Here soft cream carpets in the bedrooms are complemented by glossy black wardrobes and accent colours – pink in one room and turquoise in another. The bathrooms, with black tiles and vanities, are minimalist yet emit an air of elegance in their simplicity.

The exterior of this home is a marvel to see as well. Two massive balconies on the second floor provide relaxing areas from where the view of the primly groomed garden and swimming pool that can be enjoyed from every room.

Serving a dual purpose, the balconies also provide cover for the extensive patio area downstairs, where lime green cushions on stylish and comfortable outdoor furniture are an instant eye-catcher in a home where the owners have bravely chosen to go bold with black.
