Caesarstone Kitchen of the Year Competition

Written by Shereen Lurie

Caesarstone’s Kitchen of the Year Competition has been transformed into a 10 episode series being broadcast on The Home Channel (DsTV 176), which details the blind judging process and visits to each kitchen.

Excellence in kitchen design is celebrated in Europe, Asia and North America, but is still gaining traction in Africa, according to Caesarstone’s presenter and advertising manager, Lisa Aspeling. “We are passionate about great design, which is why we conceptualised the competition,” she says. “South Africa has some incredible design talent and we’re just delighted that we can play a part in boosting the industry and the profile of local kitchen designers”.

This year the competition was divided into two categories: imported and local kitchens. This allowed for differences in client budgets and for the judges to examine potential variations in South African versus European designs. The 2016 panel of judges includes Bradley van den Berg of Cardova Productions; Bielle Bellingham, former editor of Elle Decoration; Mor Krisher, head of product design at Caesarstone International; Philip Richards, original competition winner and brand director for blu_line kitchens; and celebrity chef, Karen Dudley.

With a weekly viewer competition sponsored by KitchenAid, you can keep up with the Caesarstone Kitchen of the Year series on The Home Channel (DsTV 176), the Caesarstone blog, or the Caesarstone SA YouTube channel.
