Nestled in what can only be described as the perfect position for a home, is this modern new build in Tokai. The couple, who are both doctors by profession, weren’t surprised at my awe of the encompassing trees and mountain views from every angle. They say it’s what made them fall in love with the piece of land in the first place.

The double-storey took eight months to build, and is centred on the couple’s love for modern design, clean lines, simplicity in everything, and the incessant need, for this space in particular, to blend the indoors with the outdoors.

The lower level, with flawless flow, houses the majority of the living area and one downstairs guest bedroom en suite. The open-plan kitchen overlooks their favourite room in the house, the informal lounge, and allows cooking to become an inclusive part of entertaining family and friends.

Upstairs, the three other luxe bedrooms and en-suite bathrooms have spectacular feature windows near the ceiling, overlooking the tops of the engulfing trees and flooding the house with natural light.

The entertainment and braai area outside is the core of the house.

For a couple who love to entertain and are planning to have children, you couldn’t ask for a house that better fits their brief: modern, light and a house that, at all times, credits its natural surroundings.
