This home had been a dream for 20 years before finally becoming reality in an idyllic part of the Western Cape. With an overall sense of tranquillity, it clearly reflects the value of family.

Central to the home is an open-plan space comprising the kitchen, dining and living areas. The decor is an eclectic mix of modern furnishings and precious antique pieces that have been collected over the years. The stylish kitchen features integrated appliances and a hidden scullery.

The lounge area leads out onto a small balcony, from where the surrounding views can be appreciated. Opposite, doors that slide right back into the wall open up onto a large patio, which has been artfully decorated and coordinated. The family enjoys spending time together here, as they are able to feel part of the indoors and outdoors simultaneously.

The quaint garden and swimming pool are the perfect backdrop for a family braai and relaxing afternoon on the patio. Another smaller patio is attached to the master bedroom, where a beautiful pergola covered in greenery rises over garden chairs, and where cups of tea and morning sunlight greet the home owners each day.

The main bedroom is charming and carefully decorated – the attention to detail is clear. When the doors onto the patio are open, the bedroom is a light, airy haven. A mix of modern and classic styles, the room is soft and calm, with an en-suite bathroom that is open, spacious and modern.

Upstairs, two en-suite bedrooms are separated by a common lounge, and the whole floor can be closed off for privacy.

The perfect setup for these home owners, the home is personal testimony of love and the value of family.
