Dream solution

For these lucky home owners, their desired lifestyle meant creating a special home in their dream location, where the end result produced a world-class solution.

Standing tall among its neighbours, the apartment block where this magnificent penthouse was created from an empty shell, is located in the cosmopolitan “golden mile” setting of Mouille Point near the city of Cape Town.

Known for spectacular sunsets, its greatest offering lies in the exclusivity of the area, as well as its close proximity to the city and the Atlantic Seaboard.

Their goal was to create a generously sized double storey house, at the top of a tall building that would become a welcoming home away from home.

Their creative teams at Stefan Antoni Olmesdahl Truen Architects and AA Interiors, that completed both the interior design and decor to these client’s utmost satisfaction, say the “filling in of this shell” turned out to be a particularly memorable project.

The first floor was designed to facilitate convenient entertainment both indoors and outdoors, and the northern orientation justifies the large balcony that seamlessly extends the interior outwards. Furnished to enjoy panoramic views and sunsets across the Atlantic, the balcony offers every comfort including a spa pool and luxurious sun bed, both with enclosures against the sun and wind.

The owners say that achieving the contemporary chic theme of the interior was made possible with the expertise of their designers who assisted them in furnishing their penthouse apartment in a unique style.

All the fittings, flooring, individual pieces of furniture as well as the carpeting was custom-made to “work and fit” in their choices of textures and tones. An elegant floor space covered in water and pebbles that also features beautiful art and a water feature underneath the stairway sets the tranquil tone of this living area.

The large master bedroom suite on the second floor holds the best of both worlds: maximum sleeping comfort with a beautiful bathroom overlooking the ocean, and a sleek designer dressing room fit for any one’s dreams.

Magnificent views extend from any point in this room through extra lengths of glazing and sliding doors leading onto another balcony. And for those lucky visitors to this seaside abode, another two stylish bedroom suites await.

Living along this stretch of Cape Town’s “golden mile” simply means enjoying a cosmopolitan lifestyle, while breathing in salty sea air from on top of the world.
