Industrial charm

This property was originally built in 1911. It comprised triple brick walls, natural stone found in the area, and Oregon pine, all of which had been preserved. A renovation in the 1970s increased its size, including a third story, but lost the original character of the property. “Our renovation exhibits some of the original character along with an almost industrial glass and steel look maximising open spaces and access to the views,” the owner says.

This particular suburb of Johannesburg worked for this family because of its convenience and close proximity to the schools. “We’ve been in a different part of the suburb for two decades now, but always wanted to have a view and be closer to schools when our kids grow up,” the owner says.
