Set in the sprawling Serengeti Nature and Golf Estate, this home has been built with the “ideal” lifestyle in mind. In fact, according to the owner, it was the lifestyle that the estate offered that served as the catalyst for the creation of this family home.

Serengeti is known for its natural and lush surroundings, prime golf facilities and outstanding architectural aesthetic, all within a secured establishment. And with the wonders of nature right on your doorstep, it is not hard to see how inspiration for building a dream home can materialise with such ease. The renowned architect, who translated the brief by integrating the guidelines of the estate with the owners’ requirements, created a home that is truly short of nothing.

There are many focal features and architectural highlights throughout the home, but for these residents, the public space is the heart and sanctuary. This largely open-plan hub is made up of the kitchen, dining room and entertainment area, which leads out on to the terrace. The owner says it has been dubbed the “heart of the home” as it “defines what a house should be, where one is comfortable within the space, and it functions to all the requirements we wanted when we were looking to create a home”.

Decorated with items of only the best quality, the home, with its minimal look, focuses the attention of the residents and their guests on what truly stands out – the natural landscape that flows seamlessly as one looks out through the many glass windows and sliding doors. You can’t help but get the impression that the views, and the golf course, have been framed by the large expanses of glass.

The owner believes the bar receives most of the attention, but adds that the various display spaces were essential, especially for his Delft House collection. He adds: “The home is also self-sustainable and can function off-grid; therefore the introduction of a plant room, which accommodates these essential services, is a must-see.”
