Modern practicality

Spacious, functional and ultra-modern is what these home owners were looking for in their new home. With a growing family, practicality was a must, and the architect achieved just that.

With a large television taking centre stage along the decorative feature wall, and comfortable Fendi Casa furniture, the lounge is simple, yet gives the feeling of complete family relaxation, along with its own identity.

In keeping with the airiness of the home, the lounge leads into the dining area and kitchen. The kitchen boasts modern appliances against the backdrop of soft-toned colours, used as the base material for the room. These, combined with the bronze mirror accent doors, marble nook counter and timber veneer, add balance to the room.

The dining area is perfect for both formal entertaining and an intimate family dinner. The brick columns and uniquely shaped mirrors bring warmth, elegance and tranquillity to the space, enhanced by the indoor fire separating the lounge and dining area.

From there you are led into an informal entertainment area, which combines a vast enclosed patio. In line with the modern look, the blue bar stools break from the natural colour scheme for a fun summer feel. The entire area is surrounded by enormous glass windows and doors that open up completely, offering an outdoor experience while still being “indoors” and out of the elements.

The gas braai dominates this space. Surrounded by comfortable and stylish patio furniture, with the kitchen nearby, there is no reason why the hosts can’t be in on the fun and laughter. For a real outdoor feel, the home also offers a traditional braai area with comfortable circular seating, and a swimming pool surrounded by a wooden deck.

To promote a true entertainment experience, the home boasts a modern and chic, classic red-and-black cinema with a backlit LED woven wall and black leather seats. Along with the impressive cinema comes a high-tech security system, lighting control, a distributed audio system, CCTV and alarm system, and irrigation control.

After a round of sport, it’s time to hit the gym. For a complete home fitness solution, an extensive gym was installed with state-of-the-art equipment. Surrounded by large windows, the gym is neat and orderly, and as elegant as the rest of the home.

The main bedroom with walk-in closet has a classic aristocratic look. The plush carpet, fashionable furniture and decor exude a modern, yet sophisticated appeal, the dark and light colours blending well for a peaceful and harmonious ambience. Behind the thick drapes are ceiling-to-floor windows that capitalise on the view, and glass doors that open up to the garden.

The bathrooms have been designed to embrace a spa-quality ambience, with clean lines and cream colours, offset by darker shades. Each bathroom has a large shower, deep bath and twin basins. Large mirrors assist in expanding the space.

This luxurious home would be incomplete without a sauna. The wooden sauna is just the place to relax after a long day at the office.
