New York colonial-style

Danielle Colding Design is an interior design and style consultation firm based in New York City. Founded in 2006 by designer Danielle Colding, the firm has taken on residential and commercial projects,  focusing on a client-driven approach to creating spaces of lasting beauty and function. We love her most recent project, a complete, long-term renovation of a quaint colonial-style home in New Rochelle, New York.

Just an hour outside of NYC, the house had good bones, and the client, with an eclectic art collection (that served as the inspiration for most of the redesign) also had an interesting collection of vintage and modern furniture.

A fresh color palette was employed, and new pieces, both big and small, were purchased for the while the renovation underway. Older pieces were reupholstered and refinished, many of them antiques.

With a layered, more is more approach, fabrics were chosen and the main room of the house was the first to undergo a complete redo. Then the rest of the house followed as the transformation evolved. The whole project took a over a year, and even now,  Danielle is working on the design of a small indoor/outdoor sunroom, the last space left!

The outcome – the  home is one of tremendous warmth and comfort. Personal touches abound and new and old mix together seamlessly. It is one of Danielle’s favourite projects to date.
