One on one

One on one with Ingrid Meyers

Written by Shereen Lurie

We recently spoke to Ingrid Meyer, owner of Anita’s Interiors. The company has been in existence for over 20 years and deals with custom-made curtains, furniture and unique decor.

Tell us a bit about yourself and how you got into the interiors profession.

I am a very passionate, dedicated woman! I absolutely love what I do and thrive on running my business. I got into the decorating business by starting something I am very enthusiastic about, and it has just grown over the years. It has taken a lot of time and hard work to get to where I am.

How did your company start, and how long have you been in operation?

I started my business 20 years ago, making curtains for friends on my bedroom floor. I have since then established a very successful business. I studied through INTEC while working and have grown from year to year.

What does you company specialise in, and what services do you offer?

We specialise in motorised curtains and blinds for enhanced convenience and style. We supply a variety of wallpapers, paint techniques and other home decorating ideas. Anita’s Interiors designs and manufactures new furniture and reupholsters old furniture. We ensure that all home decor is of a high standard and appropriate for the home.

What is the most exciting project that you have ever completed?

That is a tough one. Each home I work on is so unique and has such a unique style, therefore making each project as exciting as the next. I love what I do, which is transforming a house into a home.

What is your favourite place in your home and why?

My dining room. It is the place where my family meets every night to catch up on their day and just indulge in conversation. I love it! It makes the whole day worthwhile.

What advice do you have for home owners wanting to decorate their interiors?

Don’t clutter a room. Sometimes simple is better. Make sure that when you are decorating you visualise the end result and run a theme throughout.

Any parting thoughts?

Make your home your own – you are the one who has to live in it so you need to be the one who loves it!
