OYOY Design

Written by Jess Binns

It has to be one of my favourite pastimes, seeking out the very best in product design and trends across the globe. Today my eagle eye has landed on OYOY, a new Danish interior product company with homewares that are hitting shores as far flung as the US and Australia.

As soon as you open the OYOY website, you enter a virtual world of soothing pastel tones, clean simplistic lines and a good dose of natural materials – all elements that make for great design in this day and age. It has to be said that the OYOY sentiment really shines through each piece.

“We are inspired by the classic, Scandinavian style, adding undertones of simple, Japanese design and a passion for combining colour and materials. The result is a unique blend of simplicity and colourful design.”

Why the name OYOY I hear you ask? Well it’s all down to Danish aeroplanes. Here’s a fun fact – since 1929 all Danish aeroplanes have the letters OY written on the side to show their heritage. Proudly Danish, OYOY has honoured this tradition and that places it firmly on the Scandinavian design map.

From potholders and tea towels to colourful cushions and monochromatic blankets, OYOY is providing a platform for great design for everyday objects. Time for me to start sorting out the kitchen again!
