Situated on an exclusive estate, this elegant Tuscan-styled home enjoys the picturesque views of the estate’s beautiful gardens and clubhouse. Standing proud as a testament to this family’s unwavering love for friends, family and entertaining, all who visit this stunning abode will surely have a memorable experience.

A simple Tuscan design and style was the ethos behind this family’s dream home. “I have always visualised a Tuscan-style home with romantic looking light fittings on the outside set against a chunky bit of rock wall. I wanted to create a warm homely feel, yet with a bit of class. Our home was to be a real home and not a show piece,” explains one of the owners.

Armed with a clear vision of what the family wanted, the owners set out to create an abode that is warm, cosy and inviting, while still being perfect for entertaining and growing up in together as a family.

With a classic-contemporary Tuscan design chosen to suit a large family with four children, the owners’ only prerequisite was that the home had to be completely practical and functional for this large family.

“Our first challenge was the design of the home; we must have changed our plans five times, trying to fit everything in and making sure we didn’t forget about anything.”

Each room was carefully planned and laid out and ultimately the design of the home revolves around comfort and convenience.

All living, entertainment and games rooms take up the bottom half of the house, while the five bedrooms, all en suite, occupy the upstairs area. Completely unique to the home, after taking everything into account, the owners finally decided to place their elegant, fully functional kitchen upstairs. “The kitchen is situated upstairs and there is also a built-in braai on the patio on this floor as well.

Elements throughout the home were perfectly chosen to suit not only the overall theme, but also the family’s needs. Detailed stone and cladding finishes, supplied by The Colonial Stone Company, were skilfully crafted into the design of the actual building and contribute to the striking and rugged nature of the home.

While completely opposite to its grand exterior, the interiors of the home boast a softer, elegant and classical feel. Assisting the owners in decorating was interior designer, Clint Lewis, of Clint Lewis Interiors.

“We worked well together,” explains one of the owners. “He brought our family’s personalities in throughout the home.

He took a lot of time getting to know us and our tastes, which is what made him so special.”

Set against a neutral palette, warm tones were integrated through fabrics and textures, complementing the travertine flooring and stucco wall treatments.

“The clients’ brief was to create splendour,” explains Clint, and this is truly what they got – a home where this family can enjoy one another’s company and can relax with friends and family.
