The owners of this traditional house have always dreamt of owning an old Bryanston home, which they could renovate and make their own. This home offered wide open spaces where their children could grow up and the family could create lots of memories. The original building was left as is and the interior was demolished, rebuilt and extended.

With the vision to create a warm and inviting home rather than a showpiece, old furniture with a French feel was used, mixing a bit of the old with the new. The home takes on a classic style of decor, with a number of antique pieces giving it a pristine and serene feel. The vast spaces and big open doors that lead to the patio create a relaxed and warm atmosphere, perfect for hosting family and friends.

Having spent every day on site, the owners were able to see the progression of the building. “When the project was completed I was overwhelmed with the result, we were so happy with the finished product that there is very little we would change,” adds the owner.

They decided not to use an interior designer as they have a passion for collecting furniture as well as decorating.

They wanted to turn the home into a reflection of their own tastes but also an opportunity to have an ongoing project of decorating and refurbishing.

One of the owner’s favourite rooms is the kitchen – the simplicity and clean lines of this design form a perfect backdrop to the island, which is the focal point of the kitchen. A combination of old and new finishes was utilised by using satin white and duck egg blue Eurosquare doors, turned legs, cup handles and modern Soda Lifetsone tops to highlight the fresh appeal of the kitchen.

The home boasts a clean, bright interior and this aesthetic is carried throughout the house by using natural colours such as white, blue and brown. The cabinetry and the mirrors reflect classic French furniture, while areas such the dining room and bathroom have a more contemporary look. When entertaining guests, the garden and patio is the perfect place with its warm unpretentious setting. The bedroom is uncluttered with vast space and clean white finishes. Furniture inspired by the timeless Victorian era creates a look of a royalty and purity.
