Featured Homes Modern

A flow that fits

What strikes the visitor first about this Midstream home is the lack of colour; everything is white. But that’s not to say it’s clinical or even boring. Rather, the owners have played with texture to create shadow and light.

It’s a clever approach that shows off the clean lines of the home to its best advantage, and creates interest without the use of expensive design techniques.

The combination of steel, cladding, plasterwork, glass and cement-look tiles also creates an industrial look, while screed floors and high ceilings add a touch of the modern. “We didn’t want the house to fall too much into one genre, so we borrowed from both. I love that we have elements of two design styles, but that we don’t play by the rules of either,” says the owner, who designed the house from scratch.
