A place to call home

A combination of French design and a bit of South African flavour was the decor style the owners had in mind for their estate home. “We were trying to create a peaceful, relaxed and informal home, where we could enjoy the sunsets and open spaces around us combined with the sounds of wildlife in the estate,” explain these owners.

This specific site was not on the market when they were looking to build their home, but with a bit of persistence they managed to convince the owner to sell. “It’s got the most amazing open areas around us with excellent views of the sunset and extraordinary bird watching opportunities,” says the owner. Not wanting to feel cluttered, this site was the perfect choice.

The patio is where the family spends most of their time together; a comfortable and spacious setting with all the necessities at hand, it is the perfect space for the family to just be themselves and enjoy their surroundings. A special place is the home theatre room where they get to enjoy a bit of home entertainment on special occasions. Belinco Construction & Project Management was used for the construction and interior design of this modernly chic home. When it comes to the interiors, a lot of antique furniture and other pieces that were gathered over the years – some of which were inherited from the owners’ parents – were used, resulting in a house that has a timeless ambience. The antique pieces and other heirlooms found throughout have a special place in the hearts of these owners.

Having been personally involved with the building process, they were able to make timely changes when and where necessary. Flowers and stuffed animals are concurrent accessories that run through the house giving it a fun yet stylish feel. The bathroom is adorned with French-inspired decor and art, adding rich colours to the room.

As the owner perfectly sums it up: “It’s not modern or formal, and really is a place you want to call home.”
