Comfort and simplicity are key for these laid-back home owners, and it shows in their relaxed way of living.
Many couples experience some form of the “décor wars” – the conflict that arises when two people try to blend very different styles and preferences. Throw in the needs and opinions of children, and the situation becomes even more complicated. These home owners were well on their way to a clash: she prefers antiques, while his tastes are far more modern. But ultimately he was able to persuade her to embrace a look that’s all about clean lines and no clutter. And they’re both extremely happy with the results.
The home might be simple, but that doesn’t mean it is without statement. There are a number of features that stand out, either because they create striking focal points, or because they are central in fostering the cosy family atmosphere which pervades.
Chief among these is the water wall, one of the first things you notice on entering. It’s a sensory delight: not only is it beautiful to look at, but the sound of trickling water is a balm for the soul.
