I am increasingly impressed by the Infiniti fleet of passenger vehicles. In fact, my Editor’s Drive of the Month car has taken the Driver Experience to a whole new level.

The M37 Sport is a beautiful and intuitive vehicle, “learning” its driver’s nuances, driving patterns, and delivering wave after wave of luxury, comfort and power around each corner.

Now corners were one of the things I couldn’t get enough of in the 37! I felt like a newly-graduated driver, accelerating around every (safe) corner I could find, with the 37 hugging the road like it was the last kw of electricity left in Gauteng – the car was like an industrial magnet. All thanks to the 4-Wheel Active Steer function, which adjusts steering angle and ratio to the speed of your vehicle as it navigates the corner.

Imagine Superman meets Super-Butler meets Super-Bodyguard. The M37 was the whole package. From auto-adjustable seatbelts, to perimeter cameras, to lane departure monitoring, to calculated distance braking (so you cruise up behind the FX30d in front of you a little too quickly – the M37 brakes for you, all the way to a standstill!) there are few limits to what this car will do for you – and to what the designers and innovators thought of! For example, the world’s first Blind Spot Intervention System lets you know when other vehicles are in your blind spot area; then the car actively guides you back to the centre of your own lane. Say what?!

Oh, and just for kicks, the 37 throws in its own version of “augmented reality”, with a “forest drive” feature, where you can experience the cool, crisp air of the mountains, with alternating forest aromas (I particularly liked the fresh pine needles!)

Luxury, comfort and innovative features seem to come standard with Infiniti, and especially with the M37: keyless entry and drive; 500-litre boot space; 80-litre fuel tank; 7-speed auto drive with manual steering-wheel paddles; 7-speaker Bose sound system; automatic sunroof; 0 to 100km/h in 6.2 seconds; 3-litre V6 engine…

There is only so much space on a page, and I could sing the praises of the Infiniti M37 Sport to, well, infinity. So I’ll wrap up neatly with a comment for the Nissan and Infiniti teams to consider: my birthday is coming up in September…

With thanks to Infiniti, Nissan SA and AOG Media.
