Out And About

Blissful boutique

By Trisha Harinath

‘We veered more towards a contemporary classic design with a touch of modern glamour and with the incorporation of luxurious fabrics and furnishing, the emphasis on comfort and style has been set in stone,” say Sumari and Gerhard Krige, the owners of AtholPlace.

The original house, made from thatch, was built in the 1950s. With the help of the well respected French-Belgian architect Pierre Lombart, today AtholPlace emits a modern contemporary ambience. Interior designer, Adele van der Merwe was commissioned to bring the interior spaces to life. The combination of Adele’s love for classic contemporary design and Sumari’s worldwide travels has resulted in chic spaces which welcome guests who step into AtholPlace Boutique Hotel.

It comprises 10 luxurious rooms that have been individually decorated and designed to provide a sanctuary of comfort and tranquillity. All bathrooms have under-floor heating, the bedrooms are fully airconditioned and have under-carpet heating as well. Each bedroom offers a number of standard luxuries to entice guests to relax and enjoy the full benefit of AtholPlace Boutique Hotel.

The public areas include a comfortably furnished library with a built-in fireplace, a large swimming pool, a fully-kitted gym and an informal bar area. Guests can look forward to a sumptuous breakfast served in the elegant dining area or they can choose to dine outside under the trees in the perfectly manicured landscape.

With its contemporary classical glamour and understated elegance, AtholPlace Boutique Hotel is the epitome of an indulgent home away from home.
