Classic Cape blend

For the well-travelled foreign owners who discovered this valley of beauty and serenity during frequent business excursions, they simply had to make a piece of it their own, where they could retreat from their demanding daily lives. “The idea of having a modern version of a Dutch Colonial house on a farm with views across the vineyards” is what appealed to them, say the owners.

Alison Rehbock of The Painted Door Design Company says the combination of her client’s crystal clear views of the family’s needs, and her ability to interpret it correctly, created this successful partnership. After meeting at the Cape Town Decorex show in 2007, initial consultations that were followed by the close working relationship between interior designer and construction specialist, Johan Visser of Energy Property Development, are what ensured final success.

An exclusive designer kitchen featuring stunning Kiaat timber is positioned in close proximity to the elegant dining room and living areas to provide optimum functionality for regular business and family entertainment purposes. Immaculate floor spaces for both underfoot comfort and practical use in subtle tones, highlight the finest detail in fittings and finishes, creating an elegantly classical ambience throughout.

The typical Cape Dutch architectural style of this estate lends itself to this elegant interior design where the combinations of classical and contemporary designs and finishes enhance rich imported textures and the finest fittings and finishes. Striking roof trusses fill double-volume roof spaces where custom-made handcrafted chandeliers and light fittings lighten up beautifully finished living spaces. The client says that when they return here, their favourite holiday home from abroad, it takes no time at all to slot into the relaxed environment and lifestyle of the Boland.
