Appraising the frontal vantage point from the beach, this home is one of clean symmetrical lines and the finest balance. The African-Colonial architectural style was introduced by Heinrich Gerstner Harding Architects according to its client’s brief for a departure from the traditional West Coast vernacular style.
The dynamic use of columns, while supporting the top structure and resting inside the swimming pool, exudes a stately ambience of the old colonial style. The architects say that due to the estate’s stringent height restriction limits, steep roof pitches could not be accommodated, and those were replaced with the earthy, natural slate roof.
The pristine white exterior accentuates the beauty of this house, particularly when lit at night. The elegant curves of the exterior complement powerful clean interior lines.
Designed for maximum privacy and comfort, all four bedrooms are located on the upstairs level, while living areas are on the ground level. Interior designer, Lynette Monsson of Seed Design, says her client’s brief expressly requested a home that, while reflecting class and elegance, also had to provide an environment suited to comfort and relaxation.
The perfect flow that was achieved within the living areas between patios, lounges, kitchen and dining areas is not to be underestimated for being the ultimate in convenience and luxury. The centrally situated kitchen, with easy access to all living and entertainment areas, reflects a contemporary style. The brilliant whites of quartz work surfaces are contrasted against rich timber tones and stainless steel fittings.
When entering this exquisite home where matching timber of garage and front doors sets the tone for style and elegance, what follows is the ultimate for those who enjoy beauty and comfort.
