According to these proud home owners, imagining the full extent of the beauty that this farm-style estate, in the midst of a city, offers is something that did not come easily.
“The estate has been developed and maintains building around existing pastures which means that cows from the adjoining dairy farm come and graze on the land every day, and there is also an abundance of bird life and indigenous trees present as well,” says the owner. This is one of the many reasons that these home owners decided to build their ultimate dwelling within the expansive walls of this pristine establishment.
The home sits comfortably in the landscape and maintains the natural surrounds. The entrance comprises custom-made, high, double timber doors and a water feature which welcomes visitors leaving them with an awe-inspiring first impression.
A design highlight of the home is the way in which the fully equipped entertainment area has been established. “The northern and eastern sides of the entertainment area have floor-to-ceiling doors that fold away completely and this was done in order to create an instant outdoor feeling on those hot summer days,” informs the home owner.
Having an artistic flair, the owners decided to decorate the interior of their home on their own. “We chose pale grey for all the walls and natural stone-coloured tiles were used throughout the home. We avoided elaborated finishes and opted instead for plain mediums such as timber strips for the skirting and cornicing,” says the owner.
She adds that although the home features predominantly monochromatic colours, especially on the walls, floors, carpets and finishes, splashes of colour were brought in with the owners’ love for eastern carpets, colourful cushions, throws and various treasured pieces that they collected over the years from all over the world. A highlight decorative element in the home is the Moroccan light features that were strategically placed to add drama and atmosphere.
