“In essence, I wanted a new look with understated elegance, specifically for entertaining large groups of people. I also wanted a modern look that I had seen during my overseas travels. However at the same time, I did not want the look to become clichéd,” recalls the owner. Being an Aquarian, the owner mentions that he loves water and all of the colours that are associated with the ocean. This love of his can be seen in the treatment of the home’s colour palette. Neutral base colours were used and these were accentuated by splashes of bright, bold colours that include striking shades of blue, green and orange.
Enhancing the modern and trendy feel is the inclusion of mirrors in the home. The interior designer has made use of circular framed mirrors that are placed either on their own or combined in groups to form captivating works of art while they simultaneously open up the rooms further. Stone cladding, wooden floors and tiles all come together to bring warmth, modernity and a timeless appeal throughout this delightful abode. A room worth mentioning in detail is without a doubt the kitchen.
A blend of white and green come together to add a contemporary feel to this culinary dream. Green mosaics were skillfully applied to the walls and these create a stunning feature in the kitchen. Once again, the same green hue that is visible on the walls is also found in the nook. The home comprises three levels. The first level houses the owner’s designer library, the formal lounge, the dining area and the kitchen. This level is open-plan allowing for hassle-free entertaining and communicating. The TV room flows downstairs into the Martini bar.
The entertainment area and custom designed home theatre can be accessed from this area as well. This in turn leads to the semi-enclosed outdoor entertainment and pool area. The third level is home to the four bedrooms, bathrooms and study. The master bedroom comes complete with a dressing room and an en-suite bathroom as well as offers the owner a magnificent view of the ships queuing in the habour. With its meticulous and modern architecture and contemporary interiors, this elegant home boasts more than enough for one to lead an upmarket and remarkable lifestyle.
