If you, like me, are a time-strapped, full-time working parent who enjoys cooking delicious food, but lacks the time to plan, shop and prep your family’s meals, UCOOK may be exactly what you didn’t know you were looking for.

I recently discovered this creative dinner kit delivery service while browsing Twitter. One enthusiastic UCOOK devotee posted a photograph of her mouthwatering creation, congratulating the company for its delicious offerings and great service. This piqued my interest, and I immediately visited and placed my first order on its user-friendly website.

With UCOOK, you simply visit the website once a week and select delicious meals from one of the three menus curated by some of the top chefs in the country – Rustic, Low Carb or Vegetarian. Choose how many portions of each dish you would like, add one or two bottles of specially paired wine if you like, and leave the rest to them. The team will source organic ingredients such as grass-fed beef and free-range eggs, and deliver them, along with corresponding recipe cards, directly to your address, for you to cook in the comfort of your own home.

Cooking your meals is as easy as 1-2-3. Each portion is accurately measured, ensuring minimal prep and food wastage. For my first meal, I made the cheesy nachos and beans, and the result was an incredibly flavourful dish. I’d never made my own nachos before, so it was a good opportunity to try my hand at something new. I also find it tricky figuring out which spices (and in which quantities) to use in dishes I’m not overly familiar with, so I found it reassuring to be provided with exactly what works for the dish. Tonight’s Sri Lankan veg curry is sure to be a hit!

So if you’re looking to take the schlep out of shopping, add variety and fun to your evening meals, and sharpen your cooking skills, be prepared to step into a world of culinary delights with UCOOK. I highly recommend UCOOK for its excellent customer service and innovative menus. The service is available in Cape Town, Johannesburg, Pretoria, Durban and Port Elizabeth.
