Effortlessly embraced by sweeping views and a 3 000m2 site, this phenomenal six-bedroom house is the epitome of comfort and style. Described by the home owner as being “an entertainer’s dream”, every aspect of this home was designed to revolve around family, space and fun.

Clean, simple lines form the basis of the interiors, with each room being decorated with fun and colourful furniture, accessories or artwork. “We decided on a modern theme, with South African art and furniture and a ‘kitsch’ element thrown in for fun.” And these home owners couldn’t have asked for their home turning out any better.

Having fallen in love with the home, views and amount of space available to cater for the large family and friends, they decided to renovate in order for the home to fully suit their needs. “We bought a classic home that in most areas, especially the bathrooms and outbuildings, were quite run down. We loved the space and possibility to modernise the house,” add the owners.

In keeping with the sustainable and green culture, the family focused on reducing their carbon footprint when renovating and this resulted in the more industrial theme with exposed stock brick, concrete and glass. The look is modern and contemporary with a sassy edge to it.

“I used the classical feel in the bathrooms with the black and white tiles, but then went industrial with unplastered walls and ceilings, and industrial light fittings. That adds to a more green feeling with less paintwork, solar power, and open spaces,” explains the owner.

When it came to the interiors, having sourced everything on their own and instead of following one structured theme, the family focused on adding their own fun personalities to every room with the inclusion of colour, texture, fabrics and bold striking furniture.

Making it personal and cosy, the spacious rooms have a defined sense of purpose, with furniture being key when decorating. “I love using furniture as art,” adds the owner.

Fulfilling all the family’s needs, and ensuring the children have a house to call home – one in which this family can enjoy and entertain throughout the year – the home encompasses everything that this family is about.
