Crew Café & Offices

Written by Jess Binns

In Montreal, a company by the name of Crew is giving its patrons a unique setting for their morning flat whites. It has taken up residence in a bank, a building that dates back to 1926, and it’s a building that takes architectural drama to new heights.

With bank interiors almost a century ago, no expense was spared. Take the vast coffered ceilings and inlaid marble floors, towering brass chandeliers and carved wooden teller stands. Calling it a feast for the eyes is putting it mildly.

With such a backdrop, anything but no-frills, contemporary furnishings was the order of the day. Working with the unusual layout, Crew created rooms within rooms. It’s what it refers to as “placing the new within the old”. Using steel boxes, clad in brass, a series of pods was formed that house desk space, conference and meeting rooms.

The marriage of new and old is purposefully noticeable. However, the two gel very well. Whether it’s a coffee you’re after or an office space for six months, this magical place will meet and exceed your needs.

Best wishes,
