Editor and team gone wild

I tried to hide behind some of the clothes so I wouldn't have to leave, but Robyn found me.

So much to choose from at the Tiger of Sweden showroom - where to start?

This scarf would add a lift to any outfit.

Imagine the effect (and warmth) of this stunning fireplace in winter!

This pause area on the fifth level of the hotel made me pause a little longer to enjoy the combination of design and decor.

What happens when you bring a bunch of girls, a fun photographer, some gorgeous clothes, a drool-worthy venue – and 10 cups of (non-decaf) coffee together? A really fun SA Home Owner photoshoot! Here’s what went on behind the scenes of our editor’s and meet-the-team photoshoot on 23 January…

The day started with a visit to the showroom of one of the hottest international fashion brands to hit SA shores: Tiger of Sweden. Photographer Robyn Rose from Robyn Rose Photography, and I, met with the charming Michelle Hawkins, national brand assistant of the Brand Group International (who look after Tiger of Sweden in SA), to select some gorgeous outfits for the editor’s letter photoshoot.

Rails of flowing fabrics and beautiful outfits offered ample choice, and Michelle and I trawled through the selection to choose a couple of outfits to wear for the next couple of issues’ ed’s pics. Read more about Tiger of Sweden here.

I could have spent hours sipping coffee and looking through the rails of women’s and men’s clothing at the showroom, but we had a date with Southern Sun’s Hyde Park Hotel, and a few other ladies from the SAHO team, to shoot some lovely pics for the magazine. So off we scooted to the hotel, Tiger of Sweden bag in tow, and Robyn’s camera, equipment and great ideas for the photoshoot.

Now the Southern Sun Hyde Park Hotel is a décor gem in its own right, with the most beautiful combination of elements to create a modern and sophisticated lifestyle escape. From the lighting, to the rim-flow pool on the deck, to the elegant whisky lounge – there was an ample choice of spaces to shoot in.

Yet more coffee got the photoshoot cracking with Lorna, one of our sales representatives, who returned to the SA Home Owner fold after some years out of the company. Next followed Claire, our business manager, who heads up the specialist magazine division at Times Media (Pty) Ltd (and the division in which SA Home Owner falls).

Justine and Hasmita posed for their photos in our stunning March issue Kitchen & Bathroom supplement (so make sure you get your copy, on shelf 18 February, to see how the shoot turned out!)

Then it was my turn, and I felt like a superstar in the beautiful Tiger of Sweden outfits! The first was the white Meka – a slim, classic-fit dress in a beautifully textured cotton/viscose mix. Robyn and I thought this would look great in the whisky lounge – what do you think?

Then we trotted outside in my favourite outfit of the day – a long black dress with open-back, called Cheree Print (Cheree Print is a digital printed silk that is sand washed). This looked great against one of the reflective windows (and it felt amazingly light – the back of the dress was stunning as well, and super for a hot summer’s day).

The last dress I tried on was a lot of fun, and I felt like a cross between a retro cloud and a fairy in it *grin*. Called Jule, this pleat/strip dress floated as I moved, and was definitively feminine.

Robyn thought we should end the photoshoot with a bit of dillying around, so we hopped onto one of the décor-tables and posed (not an easy feat in the heels I was wearing!)

Many thanks to Robyn Rose Photography, Tiger of Sweden, and the Southern Sun Hyde Park Hotel (and their staff who turned out to be naturals as photographic assistants!)
