These home owners wanted a home that realised their vision of elegance blended with comfort and functionality and this is what they received.
The home bears testimony to a modified French Provencal dwelling. Enlisting the services of a professional interior expert, who is also a family member, ensured a hassle-free designing and decorating process. The owner wanted the home styled in such a way that it would reflect her French heritage yet at the same time still fit the South African setting. This was achieved with the use of various fabrics, stylish furniture and opulent rugs.
The house is a modified L-shape double storey with 762m² under roof. It comprises various features including well established living and entertainment areas, a gym, a steam room, an impressive library and a large landing that doubles up as a playroom.
It was also imperative for the garden to complement the house rather than be a separate entity. This was achieved by leveling and terracing the existing garden as well as using shades of green, grey and lavender to bring about an atmosphere similar to that of a Provence garden. Although the exterior spaces are well structured, just as the interior areas are, the garden still includes a large sandpit, jungle gym, a built-in trampoline as well as a big lawn area making it ideal for the children and the dogs.
When looking at this home, it is clear that the owners went out of their way to ensure that their dwelling provides the ideal location for both the kids and the adults – this home truly represents a family abode that is elegant, comfortable and offers its residents practical living.
