Embracing beauty

Boasting a Jack Nicklaus signature golf course, this Garden Route estate offers the lucky owners a spectacular place of residence coupled with a magnificent lifestyle.

Sue Hendriks of Robin’s Nest Interiors, who was appointed by the client, together with Starkey Olivier Architects, says one of her priorities in completing this highly successful project was to ensure that the decor did not detract from the breathtaking outdoors of this designer home. Sue says her selections remained neutral and flowing to complement other selections of furniture and fittings as well as the interior design done by architect Jerome Starkey.

Of the exquisite conceptual design of this house, Jerome says that a transparent, open–plan “great room” was created to maximise the spectacular views in a seamless style to the south of the Knysna Heads, yet orientated towards the north for optimum light and warmth. “Our interpretation of this brief was to create seamlessly connected internal and external living spaces, while using the built form to frame the fantastic views in both directions,” he says.

The flowing interior and exterior living areas illustrate just how perfect a home can be positioned to optimise visual elements as well as interior comfort and luxury. Proximity between cooking, entertainment and outdoor patio areas here is such that at no time would anybody have to be excluded while entertaining or preparing scrumptious meals to match the fabulous setting.
