Epitome of heartfelt comfort

By Heidi Olivier, Project Consultant Wendy Robinson, Property Coordinator Chantel Spence

With its magnificent views overlooking the valleys, this home is the epitome of relaxation and comfort. “We bought the stand about 10 years ago and in 2013 decided to build our dream home. We love the estate, and with the view into the valleys towards a dam, nothing can be more pleasant and enjoyable after a long, hard day,” says the owner.

Natural cladding and wooden features are found throughout the house, making visitors feel like they are wrapped in a comfortable, warm blanket. “We love wood and natural cladding, and decided to use as much of these two items as possible. The cladding we picked up in the veld between Irene and Olifantsfontein to ensure the most natural look we could get,” explains the owner.

The living room oozes coziness, with the leather couches and wooden furniture being offset by a wooden fire for cold winter evenings. The large mirror increases the space even more and the sliding door opens up to a manicured gardens where there is ample space for the grandchildren to play and ride their bikes.

“We love the living room in which we can enjoy the cozy atmosphere of the fire on cold winter days and in summer we love the open slider doors with the beautiful view and the garden birds.”

The kitchen, which is outfitted in wood, gives the feeling of a serene, warm and relaxed atmosphere, where the family can spend time enjoying each other’s company.

The white baths and basins achieve an appealing contrast to the wooden vanities. One could spend hours in the bathrooms with the large showers, baths and vanities. Everything in the home is perfectly thought through, from the gracious staircase leading upstairs to the individual door handles on each and every cupboard and door within the home.

The outside entertaining area overlooking the valley blends into the rest of the home with the natural cladding and wooden tables and chairs. The home is truly a labour of love, with the owner as the contractor and his wife seeing to all the intricate details.
