The owners of this home, which is situated in an estate in Gauteng, bought the property from the developer because of the lifestyle it provides for their young family. The location of the home offers its residents a calm environment, away from the hustle and bustle of the city, and the added security of living on an estate.

The property is built on a site close to an open field, with growing mieilies in the summer and cows grazing during the winter. This is a great place to bring up children as they have the freedom of running and playing in the open fields.

The owners explain that they were also attracted by the open spaces with an open-plan layout, large rooms and the farmhouse-inspired architecture with modern lines. The modern, architectural farm style of the abode has been greatly enhanced by the owner’s choice of interior decoration.

With a clear understanding and appreciation for interior decor, the owner was able to create spaces that are warm and inviting, while exuding luxury and comfort at the same time. Taking her inspiration from the farm style of the estate, the theme of the interiors feature natural colours and finishes. Character and interest were added by combining different organic textures such as wood, leather and rattan that harmoniously blend to create elegant rooms.

One area that is a family favourite is the kitchen – this comes as no surprise as this area is where the family gathers together to enjoy hearty meals. This open-plan space seamlessly merges with the dining area making it ideal for entertaining.

With its modern finishes, large rooms and nearby open fields, everything about this home caters for it habitants’ needs and lifestyles. So much so that the owner says: “Our lives have changed completely, in terms of safety, comfort and space for the kids to play freely.”
