Farmhouse feel

With the quaint rural atmosphere of this home, away from the hustle and bustle of city life, you could be forgiven for thinking you were enjoying a quiet stay on a traditional farm.

Lovers of the great outdoors, the owners wanted a serene and easygoing feel to their home. “We love the golf estate – the outdoors, the relaxed atmosphere and, of course, the security,” says the owner.

The home was designed by the owners themselves to incorporate the family’s specific tastes and needs. They opted for a farm-style feel that is cosy and inviting. A firm favourite is the cinema. With its massive television and surround sound, it is the perfect place to watch sport or listen to music.

“I love our bedroom, bathroom and dressing room,” the owner adds. The simplicity of the room, with its natural colours and Baltic pine floors, gives the room a soothing and peaceful atmosphere.

“I enjoy opening the doors of the bedroom and admiring the view of the park. It’s my happy place,” she says.

The kitchen, with its wooden finishes, is typical of a comfortable farm kitchen, where the whole family can get together to enjoy an informal meal, while chatting about their day. This relaxed space leads into the dining and entertainment area, complete with bar, and to the swimming pool, which is surrounded by a teak deck to add to the natural look.

“We enjoy entertaining and the way our home flows; it’s spacious, warm and inviting. We also appreciate antique furniture, so we brought in some antique touches here and there. Even our light switches and wooden flooring were inspired by an old farm-style home,” explains the owner.
