Modern, open, relaxing and ideal for entertaining – that is all the home owners of this lovely golf-estate home had in mind when they had it built. They wanted a home that was child-friendly, but also sophisticated enough for their children to enjoy once they grew older.

In terms of design, they chose a style that would appeal to a broader spectrum of potential buyers if ever the need to sell arose. Certainly, the architect has produced something that very few people wouldn’t dream of having as their own. With clean lines and little clutter, the modern-themed interior is both comfortable and practical, blending seamlessly with the exterior facade of the house.

“We did have help from an interior designer on choices of paint colours inside the home.

Thereafter, we knew the kind of style of furniture and decor we loved, so we just shopped around until we found what we liked and what we thought matched the house. We also got lots of ideas for the decor and furnishings by looking at magazines, with SA Home Owner being the main one,” say the home owners.

The open-plan design of the home is its most prominent feature, with every room on the ground floor flowing freely into another. The owners’ favourite space is the patio/indoor-braai/atrium area, which leads out onto the pool. When the stacked doors are opened, the entire space becomes one big area.

Having just started a family, the owners chose to build their home on a golf estate, primarily for security reasons. They wanted their children to be able to grow up in an estate where they have the space they need but, more importantly, are safe using it.

“We just loved the area too, as it has somewhat of a country, out-of-town feel. It was also close to work, with lots of good schools and shops close by,” they say. And, with the man of the house being a golfer, surely it was not a difficult choice to make.
