When they purchased this home, the owners decided on a renovation to create an environment ideal for their family. The interiors would need to be sophisticated and luxurious, while accommodating the needs of two children.

The four-bedroom house proved ideal, despite that fact that the original structure of the home presented some challenges during renovation. “We had to redo the downstairs bathrooms. You just never know what you’re going to get with a renovation, like rising damp, for example.”

But the fun began when it came to the interiors. Working around their existing items, the home owners worked closely with the interior decorator to create a French-inspired haven where family living and elegant entertaining co-exist harmoniously. The owner loves reds and golds, and this theme has successfully been carried through the home.

The formal dining area is a wonderful example of the French style, with its ornate carved wood dining table, luxurious fabrics, elegant wallpaper and baby grand piano. The TV room is where the family spends the most time together. “It needed to be comfortable, so we opted for a large, soft ottoman rather than a coffee table.”

The downstairs areas of the home include a large study with the feel of an old-world library, and a formal living room. Upstairs, the main bedroom has an enviable, celebrity-style, walk-in closet, and the fabrics and wallpapers chosen for each bedroom – in combinations of graphic prints, ornate paisley designs and floral accents – were a brave choice that paid off to become standout features of the home.
