There are a wide variety of kitchen accessories available on the market to assist you in your quest for wholesome living. Here are a few great kitchen tools that will help you cut calories – not flavour.

The juicer

Whipping up a delicious drink from your favourite fruit and veg is as easy as 1-2-3 with a juicer. Depending on your budget, kitchen size and overall health requirements, there are a range of juicers you choose from – most popular being the centrifugal juicer which works by extracting juice from the fruit and veg by pushing it against a spinning plate.

The spiralizer

The health-conscious will love this nifty little gadget, which creates thin ribbons of vegetables, similar to spaghetti. The spiralizer attaches to your kitchen surface with suction cups that keep it in place. Each device comes with a selection of blades, allowing you to choose the thickness of your noodle, a revolving handle and a grip that holds the vegetable you are spiralizing place. You then insert the vegetable into the holder between the blade and crank and gently turn the handle until spirals are formed.

Slicers, zesters and graters

Dining is a complete sensory experience so making food that looks as good as it tastes is important. Any chef can tell you that the trick to making food look good lies in the chopping and cutting. Avocado slicers, garnish slicers and lemon zesters help you add great finishing touches to your meal. A shake grater is also handy as it helps you grate and shake whichever garnish you use.
