Hôtel De Tourrel

Written by Jess Binns

Associated with the likes of Vincent Van Gogh and boasting 300 days of sunshine a year, the provincial town of Saint-Remy-de-Provence in France is fast becoming a tourist hotspot. Nestled in the town centre is a 17th century Palais, a historic visual feast that now goes by the name of Hôtel de Tourrel.

Painstakingly resorted and reconfigured in to seven luxury suites, this glamorous old girl is making waves with her new interior makeover. Owners, Margot Stangle and Ralph Husgen know a thing or ten about sophistication and style, (one being an architect and the other a communications and marketing expert) so it will come at no surprise how devastatingly beautiful each space is. Not only a place to stay, but a place to enjoy the culinary wonders of Benoit Fauci, who is famed for his Michelin-star eatery ‘Les Chenes Verts’, in the nouveau Mediterranean restaurant.

Each suite enjoys high ceilings and original wall finishes restored to their former glory. Contemporary furnishings and high-end fixtures balance out the rawness and give these spacious rooms finesse alongside the comfort and amenities any modern day hotel should provide. Having visited France a number of times, I always want to go back for more. When I do, rest assured that Hôtel de Tourrel will be one of my destinations. Perhaps I’ll leave a slipper on the steps just in case a modern Prince Charming should be hanging around!

Best wishes,
