Into the Wild

By Svenja Gernoth, Project Consultant Roweena Pillay, Photography Nic Baleta

Comprising natural materials such as the A-frame thatched roofs, concrete slabs and an abundance of wood and glass, this abode exudes serenity and comfort, perfectly fusing with the picturesque bushveld that embraces it.

The interior of the home was strategically designed to create a sense of spaciousness, following an earthy palette in assorted shades of brown, beige, orange and green, and materials such as stone, wood, leather and coir are incorporated within the furniture and decor to add texture. The owners’ brief to Peacocks Nest Interiors and Nico Joubert Projects was simple – they wanted a home in which to entertain, with just a hint of an African feel, but with the same luxury as their city house.

With large outdoor decks, an invigorating rim-flow pool, fire pit and braai area, and a 180° view of the serene surroundings, this home comprises all things luxurious. An open-plan kitchen and dining room encourages family participation, and large folding doors in the dining room, TV room and all the bedrooms open onto the wooden decks . The utmost attention was given to even the smallest of details and each decorative or furniture piece was selected with great care.

Seamlessly embraced by an exquisite landscape complete with wildlife and never-ending views, this home is a true reflection of luxurious comfort and simplistic style.

Peacocks Nest Interiors, in conjunction with Nico Joubert Projects, created this magnificent home – from selecting the site to choosing the exquisite linen, curtaining, furniture, lighting fixtures and crockery, and everything in between. In this lounge, dummy curtains and bamboo blinds were chosen to keep thewindows unobstructed, thus allowing the home owners’ a maximum view of the picturesque bushveld.PEACOCKS NEST INTERIORS 012 996 0299. Within this beautiful bedroom, Peacocks Nest Interiors selected warm earthy colours in shades of brown, cream, gold andorange. The exquisite headboard, throw, cushions and linen were all custom-designed and made for the client, and the curtaining was created in such a way that it can be pulled back completely, exposing the stunning outside views. A coir carpet was also placed to reflect the natural feel of the surrounding bushveld.
