Living the dream

By Josie Eveleigh, Project Consultant Debbie Zeelie, Property Coordinator Wadoeda Brenner, Photography Keith Quixley

For a family with children, and a husband who is often away on business, there’s no place quite like this home, which offers both security and a sense of open space.

The couple bought the house last year and undertook some renovations. Nothing major was required in terms of structure, as it was already their dream home. A Stefan Antoni design, magnificent features, open space and prime positioning on this golf estate were just some of the factors that drew the family to this house. They waited for years until it became available for purchase – tenacity and timing, the couple says.

The downstairs area follows the brief from the couple who love all things modern, but who also wanted a house that was warm. The kitchen, dining room and lounge are open-plan, where space is no issue. Minimalist, modern and white, these rooms allow for the view to shine through the house. With no back wall, the property seamlessly melts into the picturesque backdrop of the boats anchored in the ocean and the last rays over Sunset Beach. The pool has an adjacent sunken pit seated area, one of the children’s favourite spaces.

A striking brass fireplace in the lounge and a stone-cladded curved feature wall work together to pull this large home together and provide the “wow” factor.

The bedrooms are upstairs, with the main bedroom en suite – featuring a high-gloss wood-cladded headboard and clean lines – opening up onto a large curved balcony, offering an elevated view of the beautiful surrounds.

This is what the house is about: a functional and exquisitely modern family home with sufficient space, but with no clutter or unnecessary frills.
