You know that feeling at 7am on a Monday morning, when the shock of your unwelcome alarm shakes you into the stark reality of a long, arduous week? Well, for me, this wake-up call has been made infinitely more difficult after my brand new purchase of delectable bed linen from Loads of Living that has made my sleeping experience nothing less than heavenly.

SA Home Owner Features Writer, Hasmita Amtha and I recently attended the Loads of Living Winter Collection Launch at Sandton City, where we were the first to preview their new linen and Pima Cotton ranges, and where I became acquainted with my future “bed-partners”…

The evening’s events kicked off with a gastronomic feast at Walnut Grove and then concluded with the main “reveal” at the Loads of Living store. At Walnut Grove we admired the expansive “walnut tree” adorned with over 50, 000 antique crystals, while sampling a mouth-watering selection of bite-size morsels like Micro Burgers with Bok Choi and Sprouts, and Red (and Blue!) Velvet Cupcakes. Walnut Grove is the “longest running restaurant in the centre’s history” (it’s been serving top-quality fare since 1975) and has recently undergone a complete makeover, so a meal there is an absolute must-have during a shopping trip to the centre.

It was difficult tearing ourselves away from the delicious snacks, but duty called, and so on we went to the store to be introduced to “the ultimate in luxury bedding” – 100% linen pillowcases and duvet covers. Loads of Living Buying Manager, Lise Parry explained that the Loads of Living Linen Bedding range is made using European-grown, exceptionally high-quality flax fibres that are recyclable and eventually biodegradable. What makes the company’s linen even more appealing is that it is thermo-regulating so it keeps you warm in winter and cool in summer.

Loads of Living linen is comfortable, crisp and clean, with a distinguished texture, yet strong and durable – something that I can now attest to! The range is also surprisingly affordable with pillowcases (embroidered with the word LOVE) priced from R199 and duvet covers (incl. two pillowcases) priced from R1 699.

In addition to the Linen Bedding range, Pima Cotton bedding will be exclusively available at Loads of Living stores nationwide, from 1 June. Pima originated in Peru and was named after an American Indian Tribe, who first cultivated this cotton in the USA. The distinguishing factors are the extra-long staple fibres, which make it softer to the touch and give it superior strength when compared to other cottons. Finished with a luxuriously soft sheen, Pima Cotton is the ultimate in luxury and a home’s absolute must have.

Now, all this eating and listening is hard work so at this point everyone who attended the launch was rewarded with goodie bags containing a pair of pillowcases from the Linen Bedding range and a hand wash and body lotion. I couldn’t resist trying them out that evening so I tossed my old pillowcases out and gave the new ones a whirl. Needless to say, the next day I headed straight to the Loads of Living store to buy the duvet cover and complete the set. And as they say, the rest is history…

I could go on and on about the exceptional, innovative home textiles, designer fabric scatters, signature decor items and luxurious bath gowns and towels… available at Loads and Living but I would rather keep this article short and suggest you go and view these incredible products for yourself. And while you’re there buy yourself something from the Linen Bedding range. Trust me, it’s worth it. You’ll never want to get out of bed again!
