Local talent, great design

Written by admin

We love great design and quality products. Combine this with community upliftment and you get a fabulous collection of homegrown scatter cushions sewn by a small group of dedicated women, down in the Western Cape, under Coricraft’s very own Scatter Project.

Coricraft noticed early on that these women had a talent and passion for embroidery, so the team took it into their own hands to do something for those who love creating beautiful items from hand. The Scatter Project comprises of four talented seamstresses who, after graduating top of their class from the Coricraft Sewing Project, are now permanently employed by the company.

Having originally started as a work-based education and training programme in 2005 to empower the impoverished community, the Coricraft Sewing Leadership Programme has grown dramatically. These days, unemployed members of the community are given the opportunity to train, gain valuable experience and graduate with a nationally recognized qualification – and the number of qualifiers is growing every day.

Going forward, Coricraft would like to employ more of these skilled seamstresses on their (no doubt much shorter) road to success. For now, the company’s latest collection of scatters combines the best in international quality (imported Spanish fabric) with the best in local ability… and all, right on your doorstep.

New collections and ranges from the Scatter Project are in store every month.
