Made for life

Written by Esther Moloi

The new Hisense Infinity KO has been dubbed ‘the beast that beats the best’. Esther Moloi explores why this is so.

We all know what it’s like to watch your phone drop and fear the worst: a shattered screen and probably having to buy a new handset. Well, Hisense has launched a phone that is “life-proof”. It is dust-, shock- and water-proof: the rubberised plastic gives you a rugged phone, while the Corning Gorilla Glass 4 makes the screen scratch- and crack-resistant.

The phone is fitted with a dual 4G LTE-capable SIM slot, which allows you the flexibility of using one device for both business and pleasure. The 5-inch HD screen allows you to fully view everything in great colour and crisp contrast. The smartphone’s camera comes loaded with all sorts of great features, including smile detection and various camera modes including HDR, beauty and baby mode, and a 13-megapixel rear camera.

Once I got my hands on the phone, I put it to the test and was pleasantly surprised to discover it could function while submerged under water! (The phone can withstand being submerged under water at a depth of one metre, for up to 30 minutes) and after a rather tough fall, the phone still functioned well and the screen didn’t crack. Local outdoor enthusiasts also put the phone through the ups and downs of b-boying, bmxing and skateboarding. The Infinity KO survived it all.

This durable but stylish phone is available at major retailers at the recommended retail price of R3 999.
