When this home owner decided to sub-divide her property for investment purposes, she had no idea she would be able to create such a beautiful home from the area that used to be
her garden.

Not too far from the Sandton shopping district lies this beautiful modern addition to the home owner’s portfolio. When plans for the home were designed, she knew she did not want a traditional home. “I wanted a home that is light, airy, open, simple and happy,” she says.

The home is very well lit and built to take advantage of natural light. Windows that reach all the way to the ceiling also ensure that there is plenty of sunshine around the house, and the triple-volume ceiling in the living area creates a spacious effect.

Set on a sloped site, the house enjoys wonderful views of surrounding suburbs, which include an abundance of lush trees.

As you walk into the home, you are met by a grand wooden dining table, which is any entertainer’s dream. The decor is contemporary, with an African twist, and features a number of animal-skin rugs, wooden sculptures and striking prints on the walls.

The water feature leading into the house from the driveway allows the home owner to shut out the world around her. “I love water. I would rather listen to water than traffic. Isn’t that sound just so beautiful?” she adds.
