Molteni & C’s New Showroom

Written by Jess Binns

If you like the finer things in life, you’ll have heard of Italian based furniture company, Molteni & C. Molteni are what Maserati is to the car industry. They go beyond their product merely being an item to purchase, and allow you to buy into a lifestyle, an identity that sets you apart from the rest with their iconic furniture design and craftsmanship.

This is clearly reflected in their latest venture, ‘The Glass Cube’. Molteni’s newly built showroom, designed by Tel-Aviv artist/designer Ron Gilad, is far from your conventional showroom. Each and every corner has been cleverly thought out, displaying a humorous side which endears you further to this powerhouse of a company.

One such example is the Arik Levy ‘Hug’ couch, which half protrudes from the ceiling and sports a pair of red stocking clad legs. Whilst this amuses it actually gives you a chance to inspect the workmanship from underneath that is displayed time and again with partly dissected items showing what Molteni do best.

As far as the building itself goes, I can’t help thinking of the Mies Van Der Rohe Pavillion in Barcelona. Perhaps the message here is one of transparency? An experience which reinforces the credentials of Molteni. Proving that they really are on top of their game.

Best wishes, Jess from Hector and Bailey
