Oslo home renovation with a twist!

Written by Jess Binns

Coming from the UK, it’s a well-known fact that trying to take your first step on the property ladder is proving to be more and more difficult for many, and this is fast becoming a trend globally. So it was heart warming to come across this story, which I just had to share with you, not only for the positive message but also for the truly divine interior!

Helene and Elaine, a Norwegian couple from Oslo dreamed of owning their own cosmopolitan slice in the fast-paced city of Rodelokka. With good friends in the same boat, the two families planned that if they could only find a house large enough to split, the dream of owning a home in the city was not an impossible one. And yes you guessed it – their prayers were answered when a beautiful timber house, desperately in need of love and attention, came into the market.

Having won the bid, both pairs decided on a floor each – Helene and Elaine opting for the light and airy second floor, where they proceeded with major renovations to restructure the layout and allow the apartment to be flooded with light. Helene describes how both fathers were the heroes of the hour, helping with all of the work, while Helene discovered that she was about to become a mother to twins!

The result is a glorious backdrop of whites with a real air of Norwegian bohemia. It gives off such a restful and peaceful vibe, I want to move in myself!

Enjoy!
