The owners, who are Cape Town city dwellers with a passion for the West Coast, say they sometimes just can’t wait for another escape to their lovely holiday home, and confess to occasionally even taking a midweek break there.
This beautiful foam-flecked designer timber home, built by master builders Rustic Homes, and featured by Amazing Spaces as a photographic and filming location, was custom built to offer solutions in all weather conditions, both in and outdoors.
The owners say that because they were determined to beat the cold rainy Cape winters, they built a vintage wine cellar and tasting room. This is where the family and their friends escape from the chilly winter conditions. A cosy fireplace is complemented by underfloor heating beneath earthy floors, and luxuriously comfortable furniture. The strikingly beautiful top level of this house reveals magnificent craftsmanship in the timber features.
The bath, positioned to overlook Table Mountain in the distance through French doors, is picture perfect for this environment. Magnificent Tasmanian oak flooring finished in a lime wash, complements the light and breezy restfulness of this room.
Because the owners decided to participate in the film industry’s interest in their home, they kept the interior design to a minimalist style. They say that when they move into their beloved beach house for an extended family holiday, their own favourite and colourful extras come with them. The continuity of Pearl Bay’s natural beauty and tranquillity is carried over into this beautifully designed beach house.
