The home owner visited a few sites within the exclusive housing estate to the north of Johannesburg before falling in love with this elevated stand for his first-ever from-scratch home build. “We knew immediately that the home had to have a northern orientation to maximise the beautiful views of the surrounding natural landscape,” he says.
Another key factor: it had to accommodate friends and family comfortably. “We love entertaining. It’s why the house was built. Whether out on our patio or indoors, there’s enough space for everyone to interact or find a quiet spot to do their own thing – no matter what the weather throws at us. We’ve easily sat 30 people in our open-plan kitchen and dining space when the rain moved us inside.”
