The soft tones in this home set the ambience for complete relaxation. This is the ultimate home in which to unwind and let the stresses of the day wash away. And whether it is taking an evening soak in the open-plan bathroom, where the tub overlooks the bedroom, or enjoying a meal with family or friends in the dining area that opens up onto the patio, you are guaranteed to find at least one area in this home where sweet serenity is the order of the day.

WMI Interior Design & Decor was tasked with assisting these home owners to create a home that radiates luxury in a subtle way – where less is more, and it is a matter of quality over quantity.

Working very closely with the home owners and the service providers, WMI handled all the furniture and finishing selections, from flooring, tiles, bathroom vanities and wallpaper to the customised furniture pieces, lighting and art. This not only ensured that the home owners always had someone to go to if any problems arose, but by opting to have a project manager to foresee the entire project, there is a unified vision throughout this residence, and through that comes a seamless flow, which ultimately creates the serene feeling in the home.

Wanting a home that is modern and contemporary, yet timeless and classic, these home owners were extremely impressed to see that the brief was met to the T. They were specific about getting a stylish home where their two sons would be able to flourish and have space to play, and where the family could entertain. Through WMI’s expertise in being able to function as the interface between the client and architect, this was successfully achieved.

There is a base colour theme throughout the home of light, neutral colours, with elements of blue that come through in the details of the furniture and fabrics in the lounge areas. The master bedroom and guest room have been accented with softer tones, creating a spa-like escape in these rooms.

The treatment of the floors was also carefully considered so that each area not only looks good, but is fully functional too – in all the living areas, tiles were used for their robustness and practicality; the boys’ bedrooms have vinyl wooden flooring, as it is sturdy and practical; and the master bedroom has thick carpeting for underfoot indulgence.

To enhance the ambience of the home, WMI paid special attention to the interior and exterior lighting. The interior specialists designed clusters of custom-made lights for the entrance hall and the dining room, to create a reflection of light and shadows – a perfect setting for welcoming guests into the home, as well as for sharing an intimate dinner with family and friends.

Wallpaper was selected not only for its aesthetics, but also for its ability to emphasis certain furniture pieces in the home.

This home is the perfect example of how you can have a truly indulgent and relaxing home without going over the top – there is a simplicity in the quantity of items used, yet their quality ensures luxury to the nth degree.
