Modern

Stark perfection

By Danielle Barfoot

The interior is decidedly modern, and the overall look clean and crisp, with accents of wood and brick used throughout. In fact, red brick is cleverly applied not merely as a building material, but also adding to the design aesthetic, creating texture and warmth within.

The home’s dynamic layout ensures a flowing interior, where each room seamlessly blends with the next without sacrificing its own unique identity. Adding to this flow are the light cement floors with metal inserts here and there, which gives this home a clean, almost clinical feel.

This, however, is moderated by the use of earthy colours and warm wood in the kitchen and bathrooms, as well as through the clever use of soft lighting. Of course, the two open fireplaces in the living area also add warmth and character. The comfortable L-shaped leather couch and brown tufty carpet in this room further softens the effect of the raw, red brick walls and cement floors.

In the bedrooms, choice contemporary elements and sophisticated taste comes together to create a serene retreat. The same colour palette of earthy tones was applied here, as well as in the bathrooms, where the designs are sharp and clean. Even the kids’ rooms are designed with perfection in mind. There is ample storage space to ensure everything is in its place.

Ultimately, simplicity, clean lines, space, shape and texture define this contemporary home.
