I recently came across the wonderful kt tiles. The ‘little tile company’, as it is fondly known, makes vintage-looking, patterned and embellished earthenware tiles from scratch. The tiles are painted, glazed and finally fired with a unique decal.
kt tiles is the brainchild of Kerry Toy, a Joburg-based ceramist who comes from a background in fashion design. Kerry has been producing, selling and exhibiting her ceramic works for a number of years in galleries, shops as well as commissioned items for restaurants. Kerry decided to turn her attention to handmade tiles which have fast become her passion.
There are a range of designs available, as can be seen on www.kt-tiles.co.za, and Kerry can create any bespoke design to match a particular theme.
Tiles come in two sizes 100x100mm (R45 excl. postage) and 60x60mm (R35 excl. postage).
